Sometimes I feel like Lauren gets surprised every time she sees Bo.  Like the image in her head gets diluted by all the feelings she has, so that it diminishes her physical response.  Because her feelings for Bo here are so complicated: there’s Nadia and the commitment she’s made, the complex relationship Lauren has with her work for The Ash and The Ash himself; there’s also the fact that she’s rarely let out of the compound, too.  So I can’t help feeling like when she’s away from Bo, there’s a whole lot of processing going on that distracts her.

And then there’s moments like this, when Lauren is face to face with Bo and ALL she can think about is how much she wants her.  The feelings that she’s suppressed or rationalised away or tried to explain or even deny are just too strong to ignore.  When you’re not with someone, you find it much easier to justify your feelings for them in a more detached manner.  And Lauren has decided that she and Bo isn’t going to happen; that she’s got other commitments that she intends to honour.  I love that about her, you know?  Remember way back in Season 1 when Zoie said that one of Lauren’s most prevalent traits was “loyalty”?  It really comes to fruition in Season 2, where she stays with Nadia and tries to ignore not only what’s happened between her and Bo, but also tells herself that as long as Nadia’s around, nothing is GOING to happen either.

Then Bo’s there, and all that rationalising that Lauren’s done in her beautiful, magnificent mind flies straight out of the window.  She turns into this babbling idiot who has no filter whatsoever and her immediate response to Bo is visceral and naked and all those things that Lauren has told herself she’s going to hide.

That final gif is gorgeous.  How she’s embarrassed by her own response; how she tries to explain it away and fails (pretty miserably, actually) and how she knows in that moment that she’s never, EVER going to stop wanting Bo.  It’s actually kind of ironic, that Bo is a creature who can bend others to her will with sexual powers and MAKE them want her.  Because, with Lauren, Bo doesn’t even have to try.  Lauren wants her.  Always.  She has done ever since that first moment because sometimes, it just works that way, Succubus or not.  Sometimes, when you meet someone, they crawl under your skin and all you can think about is being with them, having them, giving yourself to them.  

That want makes fools of us all.  I adore the fact that it makes a big bumbling idiot out of Lauren.
